What is MIBB?
MIBB is a breast biopsy that is done with a needle to obtain a diagnosis of a breast abnormality. MIBB is considered by most to be the quickest, safest, least invasive way to obtain a diagnosis for your breast abnormality, though it is not 100% perfect.
How long should my breast hurt after a biopsy?
Tenderness should go away in about a week, and the bruising will fade within two weeks. Firmness and swelling may last 6 to 8 weeks. Your incision may have been closed with strips of tape or stitches.
Do biopsies hurt?
A small amount of anesthetic numbs the skin, allowing the procedure to be almost painless. At most a biopsy feels like a slight pinch as the anesthetic is being injected. You shouldn’t feel any sensation as the tissue is removed.

Can I drive yourself home after a breast biopsy?
If you have a sedative or general anesthesia, make sure you have someone drive you home afterward. You will not be able to drive after the biopsy. Your healthcare provider may have other instructions for you based on your medical condition.

How long is a breast biopsy procedure?
How long does a breast core biopsy take? The time taken for the procedure varies according to how the biopsy is done. For example, an ultrasound-guided core biopsy may take only 20 minutes. A mammography-guided core biopsy (also called a ‘stereotactic breast biopsy’) may take up to an hour.
How many days rest after biopsy?
