Are Warman pickups good?
I have a set of their SSS texas triples in a strat and they are pretty decent. Cleans are good,no unwanted feedback and just a little more grit than vintage style pickups. I have actually had seasoned guitarists compliment the tone of my strat.
Are iron gear pickups any good?
Reviews are fantastic, clips sound ace… But the price? They’re great pickups, and they’re sure to make a difference to your Epiphone. I’ve only tried the Steamhammer and Hammerhead, and I have a feeling they’d be too hot for you. Stick with an Alnico if you can.
Are Wilkinson pickups any good?
Trevor Wilkinson makes some highly-regarded pickups. They’re low-cost ceramic pickups, and they sound harsh, thin, and lacking in bass response and body. They’re slightly less harsh if you put covers on them, and then tweak your amp settings extensively. But they’re still not great.
Are Oripure pickups any good?
The pickups are an amazing value and surprisingly, the cleans are really good too. When purchasing the 16.6k bridge pickup, I didn’t really think much of it to be honest as it was cheap and pretty much less than half of the price of a Seymour Duncan or DiMarzio I have currently in the guitar.
Are Wilkinson pickups wax potted?
They were very well wax potted, and they are not microphonic whatsoever. I have far more expensive pickups that are more microphonic than these. The sound is very bell-like and glassy.
Are Tonerider pickups made in China?
The pickups are then wound an assembled at our workshop in Shenzhen, China, just over the border from Hong Kong. Contrary to Internet rumour, all pickups aren’t all “made in the same factory.” Only Tonerider pickups come out of the Tonerider factory.
What’s the difference between Alnico 2 and Alnico 5?
Alnico 2 magnets have a warm tone with creamy mids and less output, while alnico 5 magnets provide higher output, more bass, and stinging, clear treble. Neck pickups can sound dark, and alnico 5’s extra treble helps keep the tone clear.
Are there any other users of Warman pickups, thoughts?
Warman pickups, thoughts? Over the last year or so I have been finding myself installing more of these pickups into my own guitars and for other peoples projects, and I have to say they are great pickups! They don’t cost the Earth either, which helps! Are there any other useres/fans of these pickups on this site? and if so what are your favorites?
Are there any good Warman bridge pickups for guitar?
Ghost pickups are fairly small company working in whitley bay north east but check them out for handwound custom pickups seriously good. I’ve got a Warman hot rails style bridge pickup in my Vintage Tele and it sounds decent enough. I also tried a Warman PAF Bucker (4 way wiring with cool split) in an old Epiphone Junior – did the job fine.
How much does a Warman hollowbody pickup cost?
A full depth hollowbody has enough character to stand cheap pickups if you like rootsy tones IME, especially at 18 quid a pair! I put three, yes three Warman G-rails into an SG project from last year’s challenge; on off switches for each and a three way switch for each to select each part of the pickup.
