Do you need to recertify Bronze Cross?
All Lifesaving awards have to be recertified every two years from the date appearing on the certificate. If you continue your lifeguard training you do not have to recertify your Bronze Medallion or your Bronze Cross. These two certificates are prerequisite to the next one, but they do not have to be current to do so.
Does your Bronze Cross need to be current for NLS?
Prerequisites: Minimum 15 years of age, Bronze Cross, and Lifesaving Society Standard First Aid (need not be current) or Standard First Aid from one of these approved agencies. National Lifeguard Pool certification is a prerequisite for the Waterpark Option.
Can you recertify your NLS after it has expired?
If my National Lifeguard award has expired, can I still recertify? As long as you have held the National Lifeguard award and have proof of certification (see above), you are eligible for a recertification.

The Lifesaving Society’s Bronze Cross begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as Assistant Lifeguards. Candidates strengthen and expand their lifesaving skills and begin to apply the principles and techniques of active surveillance in aquatic facilities.
How long is a bronze cross valid for?

The Bronze Medallion is only valid for a 12 month period. If you proceed and obtain your Pool Lifeguard Licence, there is no need to renew your Bronze Medallion, however if you are using your Bronze Medallion as a vocational qualification, you will need to renew it every 12 months.
